Directions For Use: Safe Performance Controlled Starch is designed to be fed to horses along with hay and/or pasture. Feed Safe Performance in the amount necessary to support the desired growth rate and body condition. Use 5–8 lbs of Safe Performance per day as a starting guideline, adjusting as necessary to meet the needs of the horse. High-quality hay and/or pasture should make up at least half of the complete diet.
Change to this feed gradually over a 7- to 10-day period. Do not overfeed or offer this product on a free-choice basis. When feeding grain, divide the amount fed daily into two or more feedings. Do not feed more than 0.5% of the animal’s body weight in grain (? lb grain per 100 lbs of body weight) at any one time. Maintain a regular feeding schedule. Provide fresh, clean water and adequate forage at all times. Do not allow hot, exercised horses free-choice access to water until they have cooled down.
Foals: Allow nursing foals to eat Safe Performance Growth Formula alongside the mare. As a general guideline, consumption of Safe Performance Growth Formula should be around 1 lb per day, per month of age. Monitor the foal’s body condition closely and manage the feeding program to avoid overconditioning and obesity.
Weanlings and Yearlings: Safe Performance Growth Formula should be fed with hay and/or pasture; high-quality forage will generally make up at least half of the complete diet. Feed Safe Performance Growth Formula at a rate necessary to support moderate growth and body condition. Use 4–6 lbs per day for weanlings and 6–10 lbs per day for yearlings as a starting guideline, adjusting as necessary to meet the needs of the horse. Monitor body condition closely and manage the feeding program to avoid overconditioning and obesity.
Mares: Feed Safe Performance Growth Formula to gestating mares from the last trimester of pregnancy through lactation. Safe Performance Growth Formula should be fed with hay and/or pasture; high-quality forage should make up at least half of the compelte diet. Feed Safe Performance Growth Formula at a rate necessary to support the desired body condition. Use 4–6 lbs per day during gestation and 6–10 lbs per day during lactation as a starting guideline, adjusting as necessary to meet the needs of the horse.
Caution: This product contains supplemental selenium. Do not feed this product at levels greater than recommended or in combination with other products containing supplemental selenium if the selenium concentration of the complete diet will exceed 0.03 ppm.
